¹¹ Then Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, ^(A)“Remain a widow in your father’s house till my son Shelah is grown.” For he said, “Lest he also die like his brothers.” And Tamar went and dwelt ^(B)in her father’s house.

¹⁵ You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law—she is your son’s wife—you shall not uncover her nakedness.

¹² If a man lies with his ^(A)daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death. They have committed perversion. Their blood shall be upon them.

Naomi Returns with Ruth

⁶ Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had ^(A)visited^[a] His people by ^(B)giving them bread.

²² So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Now they came to Bethlehem ^(A)at the beginning of barley harvest.

²⁰ Then Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, ^(A)“Blessed be he of the Lord, who ^(B)has not forsaken His kindness to the living and the dead!” And Naomi said to her, “This man is a relation of ours, ^(C)one of ^[a]our close relatives.”

¹⁵ And may he be to you a restorer of life and a ^[a]nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is ^(A)better to you than seven sons, has borne him.”

Ichabod

¹⁹ Now his daughter-in-law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, due to be delivered; and when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and gave birth, for her labor pains came upon her.

⁴ And ^(A)Tamar, his daughter-in-law, ^(B)bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

¹¹ One commits abomination ^(A)with his neighbor’s wife; ^(B)another lewdly defiles his daughter-in-law; and another in you violates his sister, his father’s ^(C)daughter.
