²⁸ Now Jacob sent Judah^(A) ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen.^(B) When they arrived in the region of Goshen,

³⁴ you should answer, ‘Your servants^(A) have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’^(B) Then you will be allowed to settle^(C) in the region of Goshen,^(D) for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.^(E)”

47 Joseph went and told Pharaoh, “My father and brothers, with their flocks and herds and everything they own, have come from the land of Canaan^(A) and are now in Goshen.”^(B)

¹¹ So Joseph settled his father and his brothers in Egypt and gave them property in the best part of the land,^(A) the district of Rameses,^(B) as Pharaoh directed.

²⁷ Now the Israelites settled in Egypt in the region of Goshen.^(A) They acquired property there^(B) and were fruitful and increased greatly in number.^(C)

⁸ besides all the members of Joseph’s household and his brothers and those belonging to his father’s household.^(A) Only their children and their flocks and herds were left in Goshen.^(B)

²² “‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen,^(A) where my people live;^(B) no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know^(C) that I, the Lord, am in this land.

²⁶ The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen,^(A) where the Israelites were.^(B)

²⁴ Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go,^(A) worship the Lord. Even your women and children^(B) may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind.”^(C)
