³⁴ you shall say, ^(A)‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock ^(B)from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell ^(C)in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is ^(D)an abomination to the Egyptians.”

Jacob's Family Settles in Goshen

47 So Joseph ^(A)went in and told Pharaoh, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all that they possess, have come from the land of Canaan. They are now in ^(B)the land of Goshen.”

⁴ They said to Pharaoh, ^(A)“We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants' flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. And now, please let your servants dwell ^(B)in the land of Goshen.”

⁶ The land of Egypt is before you. Settle your father and your brothers ^(A)in the best of the land. ^(B)Let them settle in the land of Goshen, and if you know any ^(C)able men among them, put them in charge of my livestock.”

²⁷ Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt, ^(A)in the land of Goshen. ^(B)And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly.

⁸ as well as all the household of Joseph, his brothers, and his father's household. Only their children, their flocks, and their herds were left ^(A)in the land of Goshen.

²² But on that day ^(A)I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people dwell, so that no swarms of flies shall be there, ^(B)that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth.^[a]

¹¹ Then Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of ^(A)Rameses, ^(B)as Pharaoh had commanded.

⁴¹ And Joshua struck them from ^(A)Kadesh-barnea as far as Gaza, and all the country of ^(B)Goshen, as far as Gibeon.
