7 “Here is what Adonai-Tzva’ot says: ‘Think about your life! 8 Go up into the hills, get wood, and rebuild the house. I will be pleased with that, and then I will be glorified,’ says Adonai. 9 ‘You looked for much, but it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?’ asks Adonai-Tzva’ot. ‘Because my house lies in ruins, while every one of you runs to take care of his own house.

7 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought(A) to your ways. 8 Go up into the mountains and bring down timber(B) and build my house, so that I may take pleasure(C) in it and be honored,(D)” says the Lord. 9 “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little.(E) What you brought home, I blew(F) away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin,(G) while each of you is busy with your own house.
