12 ‘If someone carries (A)holy meat in the fold of his garment and touches with his fold bread or stew or wine or oil or any kind of food, does it become holy?’” The priests answered and said, (B)“No.” 13 Then Haggai said, (C)“If someone who is unclean by contact with a dead body (D)touches any of these, does it become unclean?” The priests answered and said, “It does become unclean.” 14 Then Haggai answered and said, (E)“So is it with this people, and with this nation before me, declares the Lord, and so with every work of their hands. And what they offer there is unclean.

12 If someone carries consecrated meat(A) in the fold of their garment, and that fold touches some bread or stew, some wine, olive oil or other food, does it become consecrated?(B)’”

The priests answered, “No.”

13 Then Haggai said, “If a person defiled by contact with a dead body touches one of these things, does it become defiled?”

“Yes,” the priests replied, “it becomes defiled.(C)

14 Then Haggai said, “‘So it is with this people(D) and this nation in my sight,’ declares the Lord. ‘Whatever they do and whatever they offer(E) there is defiled.
