2 By faith our ancestors won approval.
3 By faith we understand that time was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are invisible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain did,[a] and by faith[b] he was declared to be righteous, since God himself accepted his offerings. And by faith[c] he continues to speak, even though he is dead.

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command,(B) so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
4 By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended(C) as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings.(D) And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.(E)
