34 quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. 35 Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, refusing to accept release, in order to obtain a better resurrection. 36 Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.

34 quenched the fury of the flames,(A) and escaped the edge of the sword;(B) whose weakness was turned to strength;(C) and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.(D) 35 Women received back their dead, raised to life again.(E) There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. 36 Some faced jeers and flogging,(F) and even chains and imprisonment.(G)
