Good News Translation
9 (A)By faith he lived as a foreigner in the country that God had promised him. He lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who received the same promise from God. 10 For Abraham was waiting for the city which God has designed and built, the city with permanent foundations.
11 (B)It was faith that made Abraham able to become a father, even though he was too old and Sarah herself could not have children. He[a] trusted God to keep his promise.

9 By faith he made his home in the promised land(A) like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents,(B) as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.(C) 10 For he was looking forward to the city(D) with foundations,(E) whose architect and builder is God.(F) 11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age,(G) was enabled to bear children(H) because she[a] considered him faithful(I) who had made the promise.
