16 See to it that no one becomes like Esau, an immoral and godless person, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 17 You know that later, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent,[a] even though he sought the blessing[b] with tears.
18 You have not come to something[c] that can be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest,

16 See that no one is sexually immoral,(A) or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.(B) 17 Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears,(C) he could not change what he had done.
