Without father, without mother, (A)without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like (B)the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually.

Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the (C)patriarch, (D)gave a tenth of the choicest spoils. And those indeed of (E)the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment [a]in the Law to collect [b]a tenth from the people, that is, from their countrymen, although they [c]are descended from Abraham.

Without father or mother, without genealogy,(A) without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God,(B) he remains a priest forever.

Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch(C) Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!(D) Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people(E)—that is, from their fellow Israelites—even though they also are descended from Abraham.
