26 else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the [a]end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin [b]by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And inasmuch as it is [c]appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgment; 28 so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.

26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world.(A) But he has appeared(B) once for all(C) at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.(D) 27 Just as people are destined to die once,(E) and after that to face judgment,(F) 28 so Christ was sacrificed once(G) to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time,(H) not to bear sin,(I) but to bring salvation(J) to those who are waiting for him.(K)
