Hosea 11:4-6
1599 Geneva Bible

4 I led them with cords [a]of a man, even with bands of love, and I was to them, as he was taketh off the yoke from their jaws, and I laid the meat unto them.

5 He shall no more return into the land of Egypt: but Assyria shall be his [b]King, because they refused to convert.

6 And the sword shall fall on his cities, and shall consume his bars, and devour them, because of their own counsels.

4 I led them with cords of human kindness,
    with ties of love.(A)
To them I was like one who lifts
    a little child to the cheek,
    and I bent down to feed(B) them.(C)

5 “Will they not return to Egypt(D)
    and will not Assyria(E) rule over them
    because they refuse to repent?(F)
6 A sword(G) will flash in their cities;
    it will devour(H) their false prophets
    and put an end to their plans.
