Hosea 8:9-11

9 She is a lonely, wandering wild ass. The only friends she has are those she hires; Assyria is one of them.
10 “But though she hires ‘friends’ from many lands, I will send her off to exile. Then for a while at least she will be free of the burden of her wonderful king! 11 Ephraim has built many altars, but they are not to worship me! They are altars of sin!

New International Version
9 For they have gone up to Assyria(A)
like a wild donkey(B) wandering alone.
Ephraim has sold herself to lovers.(C)
10 Although they have sold themselves among the nations,
I will now gather them together.(D)
They will begin to waste away(E)
under the oppression of the mighty king.
11 “Though Ephraim built many altars for sin offerings,
these have become altars for sinning.(F)
