Hosea 9:5-7
New Catholic Bible
5 What will you do on the solemn feasts,
on the festival day of the Lord?[a]
6 Even if the people escape destruction,
Egypt will gather them
and Memphis[b] will bury them.
Weeds will swallow up their treasures of silver,
and thorns will overrun their tents.
The Prophet Is Ridiculed
7 The days of punishment have come;
the days of retribution are here.
Israel cries out,
“The prophet is a fool,
the inspired man is a maniac.”
Because your iniquity is great,
all the greater is your hostility.
Hosea 9:5-7
New International Version
5 What will you do(A) on the day of your appointed festivals,(B)
on the feast days of the Lord?
6 Even if they escape from destruction,
Egypt will gather them,(C)
and Memphis(D) will bury them.(E)
Their treasures of silver(F) will be taken over by briers,
and thorns(G) will overrun their tents.
7 The days of punishment(H) are coming,
the days of reckoning(I) are at hand.
Let Israel know this.
Because your sins(J) are so many
and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,(K)
the inspired person a maniac.(L)
