²⁴ Therefore the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
    the Mighty One^(A) of Israel, declares:
“Ah! I will vent my wrath on my foes
    and avenge^(B) myself on my enemies.^(C)

¹⁶ For with fire^(A) and with his sword^(B)
    the Lord will execute judgment^(C) on all people,
    and many will be those slain^(D) by the Lord.

²⁸ Listen to the fugitives^(A) and refugees from Babylon
    declaring in Zion^(B)
how the Lord our God has taken vengeance,^(C)
    vengeance for his temple.^(D)

²⁹ “Summon archers against Babylon,
    all those who draw the bow.^(E)
Encamp all around her;
    let no one escape.^(F)
Repay^(G) her for her deeds;^(H)
    do to her as she has done.
For she has defied^(I) the Lord,
    the Holy One^(J) of Israel.
³⁰ Therefore, her young men^(K) will fall in the streets;
    all her soldiers will be silenced in that day,”
declares the Lord.
³¹ “See, I am against^(L) you, you arrogant one,”
    declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
“for your day^(M) has come,
    the time for you to be punished.
³² The arrogant^(N) one will stumble and fall^(O)
    and no one will help her up;^(P)
I will kindle a fire^(Q) in her towns
    that will consume all who are around her.”
