Isaiah 10:14-16
Legacy Standard Bible
14 And my hand reached for the wealth of the peoples like a (A)nest,
And as one gathers abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth;
And there was not one that flapped its wing or opened its beak or chirped.”
15 Is the (B)axe to (C)boast itself over the one who chops with it?
Is the saw to magnify itself over the one who wields it?
That would be like (D)a rod wielding those who lift it,
Or like (E)a staff lifting him who is not wood.
16 Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, will send a (F)wasting disease among his (G)stout warriors;
And under his (H)glory a fire will be kindled like a burning flame.
Isaiah 10:14-16
New International Version
14 As one reaches into a nest,(A)
so my hand reached for the wealth(B) of the nations;
as people gather abandoned eggs,
so I gathered all the countries;(C)
not one flapped a wing,
or opened its mouth to chirp.(D)’”
15 Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it,
or the saw boast against the one who uses it?(E)
As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up,
or a club(F) brandish the one who is not wood!
16 Therefore, the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
will send a wasting disease(G) upon his sturdy warriors;(H)
under his pomp(I) a fire(J) will be kindled
like a blazing flame.
