16 Therefore the Lord, the [a]God of hosts, will send a (A)wasting disease among his (B)stout warriors;
And under his (C)glory a fire will be kindled like a burning flame.
17 And the (D)light of Israel will become a fire and his (E)Holy One a flame,
And it will (F)burn and devour his thorns and his briars in a single day.
18 And He will (G)destroy the glory of his forest and of his fruitful garden, both soul and body,
And it will be as when a sick man wastes away.

will send a wasting disease(A) upon his sturdy warriors;(B)
under his pomp(C) a fire(D) will be kindled
like a blazing flame.
17 The Light of Israel will become a fire,(E)
their Holy One(F) a flame;
in a single day it will burn and consume
his thorns(G) and his briers.(H)
18 The splendor of his forests(I) and fertile fields
it will completely destroy,(J)
as when a sick person wastes away.
