⁵ Woe to ^(H)Assyria, the ^(I)rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hands is ^(J)My indignation,
⁶ I send it against a ^(K)godless nation
And commission it against the ^(L)people of My fury
To capture booty and ^(M)to seize plunder,
And to ^[d]trample them down like ^(N)mud in the streets.

⁶ “Lift up a ^(A)standard toward Zion!
Seek refuge, do not stand still,
For I am bringing ^(B)evil from the north,
And great destruction.
⁷ “A ^(C)lion has gone up from his thicket,
And a ^(D)destroyer of nations has set out;
He has gone out from his place
To ^(E)make your land a waste.
Your cities will be ruins
Without inhabitant.
