Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba;
Everyone’s head is ^(B)bald and every beard is cut off.
³ In their streets they have put on ^(C)sackcloth;
^(D)On their housetops and in their public squares
Everyone is wailing, ^[c](E)overcome with weeping.
^4 (F)Heshbon and Elealeh also cry out,
Their voice is heard all the way to Jahaz;
Therefore the ^[d]armed men of Moab cry aloud;
His soul trembles within him.
⁵ My heart cries out for Moab;
His fugitives are as far as ^(G)Zoar and Eglath-shelishiyah,
For they go up the ^(H)ascent of Luhith weeping;
Indeed, on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of distress ^(I)over their collapse.

¹² The nations have heard of your ^(A)shame,
And the earth is full of your ^(B)cry of distress;
For one ^(C)warrior has stumbled over ^[a]another,
And both of them have fallen down together.
