Isaiah 17:3-5
Good News Translation

3 Israel will be defenseless, and Damascus will lose its independence. Those Syrians who survive will be in disgrace like the people of Israel. I, the Lord Almighty, have spoken.”

4 The Lord said, “A day is coming when Israel's greatness will come to an end, and its wealth will be replaced by poverty. 5 Israel will be like a field where the grain has been cut and harvested, as desolate as a field in Rephaim Valley when it has been picked bare.

New International Version

3 The fortified(A) city will disappear from Ephraim,
    and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
    like the glory(B) of the Israelites,”(C)
declares the Lord Almighty.

4 “In that day(D) the glory(E) of Jacob will fade;
    the fat of his body will waste(F) away.
5 It will be as when reapers harvest the standing grain,
    gathering(G) the grain in their arms—
as when someone gleans heads of grain(H)
    in the Valley of Rephaim.(I)
