Isaiah 24:6-8
English Standard Version
6 Therefore (A)a curse devours the earth,
and its inhabitants (B)suffer for their guilt;
therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched,
and few men are left.
7 (C)The wine mourns,
the vine languishes,
all the merry-hearted sigh.
8 (D)The mirth of the tambourines is stilled,
the noise of the jubilant has ceased,
the mirth of the lyre is stilled.

New International Version
6 Therefore a curse(A) consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,(B)
and very few are left.
7 The new wine dries up(C) and the vine withers;(D)
all the merrymakers groan.(E)
8 The joyful timbrels(F) are stilled,
the noise(G) of the revelers(H) has stopped,
the joyful harp(I) is silent.(J)
