¹⁵ What do you mean by crushing my people,
    by grinding the face of the poor? says the Lord God of hosts.^(A)

¹⁵ elders and dignitaries are the head,
    and prophets who teach lies are the tail,^(A)

¹⁶ for those who led this people led them astray,
    and those who were led by them were left in confusion.^(A)

⁶ Against a godless nation I send him,
    and against the people of my wrath I command him,
to take spoil and seize plunder,
    and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.^(A)

⁷ Their feet run to evil,
    and they rush to shed innocent blood;
their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
    desolation and destruction are in their highways.^(A)

¹³ transgressing and denying the Lord
    and turning away from following our God,
talking oppression and revolt,
    conceiving lying words and uttering them from the heart.^(A)
