Isaiah 30:2-7
New International Version
2 who go down to Egypt(A)
without consulting(B) me;
who look for help to Pharaoh’s protection,(C)
to Egypt’s shade for refuge.(D)
3 But Pharaoh’s protection will be to your shame,
Egypt’s shade(E) will bring you disgrace.(F)
4 Though they have officials in Zoan(G)
and their envoys have arrived in Hanes,
5 everyone will be put to shame
because of a people(H) useless(I) to them,
who bring neither help(J) nor advantage,
but only shame and disgrace.(K)”
6 A prophecy(L) concerning the animals of the Negev:(M)
Through a land of hardship and distress,(N)
of lions(O) and lionesses,
of adders and darting snakes,(P)
the envoys carry their riches on donkeys’(Q) backs,
their treasures(R) on the humps of camels,
to that unprofitable nation,
7 to Egypt, whose help is utterly useless.(S)
Therefore I call her
Rahab(T) the Do-Nothing.
Ezekiel 29:6
