13 (A)Thorns shall grow over its strongholds,
nettles and thistles in its fortresses.
It shall be the haunt of (B)jackals,
an abode for ostriches.[a]
14 (C)And wild animals shall meet with hyenas;
the wild goat shall cry to his fellow;
indeed, there the night bird[b] settles
and finds for herself a resting-place.

nettles and brambles her strongholds.(B)
She will become a haunt for jackals,(C)
a home for owls.(D)
14 Desert creatures(E) will meet with hyenas,(F)
and wild goats will bleat to each other;
there the night creatures(G) will also lie down
and find for themselves places of rest.
