Isaiah 34:2-4 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

For the Lord’s indignation is against all the nations,
And His wrath against all their armies;
He has [a]utterly destroyed them,
He has given them over to slaughter.
So their slain will be thrown out,
And their corpses [b]will give off their stench,
And the mountains will [c]be drenched with their blood.
And all the host of heaven will [d]wear away,
And the sky will be rolled up like a scroll;
All their hosts will also wither away
As a leaf withers from the vine,
Or as one withers from the fig tree.

Isaiah 34:2-4 New International Version (NIV)

The Lord is angry with all nations;
    his wrath is on all their armies.
He will totally destroy[a] them,
    he will give them over to slaughter.
Their slain will be thrown out,
    their dead bodies will stink;
    the mountains will be soaked with their blood.
All the stars in the sky will be dissolved
    and the heavens rolled up like a scroll;
all the starry host will fall
    like withered leaves from the vine,
    like shriveled figs from the fig tree.

Footnotes:

  1. Isaiah 34:2 The Hebrew term refers to the irrevocable giving over of things or persons to the Lord, often by totally destroying them; also in verse 5.
