Isaiah 40:19-20
New American Standard Bible
19 As for the [a](A)idol, a craftsman casts it,
A goldsmith (B)plates it with gold,
And a silversmith fashions chains of silver.
20 He who is too impoverished for such an offering
Selects a (C)tree that does not rot;
He seeks out for himself a skillful craftsman
To [b]prepare [c]an idol that (D)will not totter.

Isaiah 41:6-7
New American Standard Bible
6 Each one helps his neighbor
And says to his brother, “Be strong!”
7 So the (A)craftsman encourages the (B)smelter,
And he who smooths metal with the hammer encourages him who beats the anvil,
Saying of the soldering, “It is good”;
And he fastens it with nails,
(C)So that it will not totter.

Isaiah 46:6-7
New American Standard Bible
6 Those who (A)lavish gold from the bag
And weigh silver on the scale,
Hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god;
They (B)bow down, indeed they worship it.
7 They (C)lift it on the shoulder, carry it,
And set it in its place, and it stands there.
(D)It does not move from its place.
Though one may shout to it, it (E)cannot answer;
It (F)cannot save him from his distress.
Isaiah 46:6-7
New International Version
6 Some pour out gold from their bags
and weigh out silver on the scales;
they hire a goldsmith(A) to make it into a god,
and they bow down and worship it.(B)
7 They lift it to their shoulders and carry(C) it;
they set it up in its place, and there it stands.
From that spot it cannot move.(D)
Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer;(E)
it cannot save(F) them from their troubles.
Jeremiah 10:3-5
New American Standard Bible
3 For the customs of the peoples are (A)futile;
For (B)it is wood cut from the forest,
The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool.
4 They (C)decorate the idol with silver and gold;
They (D)fasten it with nails and hammers
So that it will not totter.
5 They are like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
And they (E)cannot speak;
They must be (F)carried,
Because they cannot walk!
Do not fear them,
For they (G)can do no harm,
Nor can they do any good.”
Jeremiah 10:3-5
New International Version
3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman(A) shapes it with his chisel.(B)
4 They adorn it with silver(C) and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.(D)
5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
their idols cannot speak;(E)
they must be carried
because they cannot walk.(F)
Do not fear them;
they can do no harm(G)
nor can they do any good.”(H)
Habakkuk 2:18
New American Standard Bible
18 “What (A)benefit is a carved image when its maker has carved it,
Or a cast metal image, a (B)teacher of falsehood?
For its maker (C)trusts in his own handiwork
When he fashions speechless idols.
Habakkuk 2:18
