18 (A)Do not call to mind the former things,
Or consider things of the past.
19 Behold, I am going to do something (B)new,
Now it will spring up;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even (C)make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.
20 The animals of the field will glorify Me,
The (D)jackals and the ostriches,
Because I have (E)given waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My chosen people.
21 The people whom (F)I formed for Myself
(G)Will declare My praise.

The Shortcomings of Israel

22 “Yet you have not called on Me, Jacob;
But you have become (H)weary of Me, Israel.
23 You have (I)not brought to Me the sheep of your burnt offerings,
Nor have you (J)honored Me with your sacrifices.
I have not (K)burdened you with [a]offerings,
Nor wearied you with (L)incense.
24 You have not bought Me [b](M)sweet cane with money,
Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices;
Rather, you have burdened Me with your sins,
You have (N)wearied Me with your wrongdoings.

25 “I, I alone, am the one who (O)wipes out your wrongdoings (P)for My own sake,
And I will (Q)not remember your sins.
26 [c]Meet Me in court, (R)let’s argue our case together;
State your cause, (S)so that you may be proved right.
27 Your (T)first [d]forefather sinned,
And your [e](U)spokesmen have rebelled against Me.
28 So I will profane the [f]officials of the sanctuary,
And I will turn Jacob over to (V)destruction and Israel to (W)abuse.

18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

23 Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.

24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

(Q)Then one of the seven angels who had the (R)seven bowls, [d]full of the (S)seven last plagues, came and spoke with me, saying, “(T)Come here, I will show you the (U)bride, the wife of the Lamb.”

The New Jerusalem

10 And (V)he carried me away [e](W)in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me (X)the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having (Y)the glory of God. Her [f]brilliance was like a very valuable stone, like a (Z)stone of (AA)crystal-clear jasper. 12 [g]It had a great and high wall, [h](AB)with twelve (AC)gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on the gates, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. 14 And the wall of the city had (AD)twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the (AE)twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The one who spoke with me had a [i]gold measuring (AF)rod to measure the city, its (AG)gates, and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the [j]rod, [k]twelve thousand stadia; its length, width, and height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, [l]144 cubits, by (AH)human [m]measurements, which are also (AI)angelic measurements. 18 The material of the wall was (AJ)jasper; and the city was (AK)pure gold, like [n]clear (AL)glass. 19 (AM)The foundation stones of the city wall were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was (AN)jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, (AO)emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, (AP)sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve (AQ)gates were twelve (AR)pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was (AS)pure gold, like transparent (AT)glass.

22 I saw (AU)no [o]temple in it, for the (AV)Lord God the Almighty and the (AW)Lamb are its [p]temple. 23 And the city (AX)has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for (AY)the glory of God has illuminated it, and its lamp is the (AZ)Lamb. 24 (BA)The nations will walk by its light, and the (BB)kings of the earth [q]will bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for (BC)there will be no night there) (BD)its gates (BE)will never be closed; 26 and (BF)they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and (BG)nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those [r]whose names are (BH)written in the Lamb’s book of life.

The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues(Q) came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride,(R) the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away(S) in the Spirit(T) to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.(U) 11 It shone with the glory of God,(V) and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper,(W) clear as crystal.(X) 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates,(Y) and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.(Z) 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations,(AA) and on them were the names of the twelve apostles(AB) of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod(AC) of gold to measure the city, its gates(AD) and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[b] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human(AE) measurement, and it was 144 cubits[c] thick.[d] 18 The wall was made of jasper,(AF) and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.(AG) 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.(AH) The first foundation was jasper,(AI) the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby,(AJ) the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[e] 21 The twelve gates(AK) were twelve pearls,(AL) each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.(AM)

22 I did not see a temple(AN) in the city, because the Lord God Almighty(AO) and the Lamb(AP) are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God(AQ) gives it light,(AR) and the Lamb(AS) is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.(AT) 25 On no day will its gates(AU) ever be shut,(AV) for there will be no night there.(AW) 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.(AX) 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful,(AY) but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.(AZ)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.

16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;

20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
