17 Yet the rest of it he (A)makes into a god, his carved image. He bows down before it and worships; he also (B)prays to it and says, “Save me, for you are my god.”
18 They do not (C)know, nor do they understand, for He has (D)smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see, and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend. 19 No one [a]remembers, nor is there (E)knowledge or understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then [b]I make the rest of it into an (F)abomination, [c]I bow down before a block of wood!”

he bows down to it and worships.(A)
He prays(B) to it and says,
“Save(C) me! You are my god!”
18 They know nothing, they understand(D) nothing;
their eyes(E) are plastered over so they cannot see,
and their minds closed so they cannot understand.
19 No one stops to think,
no one has the knowledge or understanding(F) to say,
“Half of it I used for fuel;(G)
I even baked bread over its coals,
I roasted meat and I ate.
Shall I make a detestable(H) thing from what is left?
Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”(I)

17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
