Isaiah 44:3-5 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)

For I will pour water upon the [a]thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thy buds.

And they [b]shall grow as among the grass, and as the willows by the rivers of waters.

One shall say, I am the Lord’s: another [c]shall be called by the name of Jacob: and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and name himself by the name of Israel.

Footnotes:

  2. Isaiah 44:4 That is, thy children and posterity shall increase wonderfully after their deliverance from Babylon.
  3. Isaiah 44:5 By this diversity of speech he meaneth one thing, that is, that the people shall be holy, and receive the true religion of God, as Ps. 87:5.

Isaiah 44:3-5 New International Version (NIV)

For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
    and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,
    and my blessing on your descendants.
They will spring up like grass in a meadow,
    like poplar trees by flowing streams.
Some will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’;
    others will call themselves by the name of Jacob;
still others will write on their hand, ‘The Lord’s,’
    and will take the name Israel.
