In ^[a]some dark land;
I did not say to the ^[b](B)offspring of Jacob,
‘^(C)Seek Me in ^[c]a waste place’;
I, the Lord, ^(D)speak righteousness,
^(E)Declaring things that are upright.

³⁶ “^(A)If ^[a]this fixed order departs
From before Me,” declares the Lord,
“Then the offspring of Israel also will ^(B)cease
From being a nation before Me ^[b]forever.”

“^(C)If the heavens above can be measured
And the foundations of the earth searched out below,
Then I will also ^(D)cast off all the offspring of Israel
For all that they have done,” declares the Lord.
