Isaiah 48:7-9
International Standard Version
7 They are created now, and not long ago;
you didn’t hear them before today,
so you cannot say, ‘Yes, I knew them.’
8 And[a] neither had you heard, nor did you understand,
nor did you open[b] your ear long ago.[c]
Indeed, I knew that[d] you would act very deceitfully,
and they would call[e] you a rebel from birth.
9 I defer my anger for my name’s sake,
and as my first act[f] I’m restraining it for you,
so as not to cut you off.

New International Version
7 They are created(A) now, and not long ago;(B)
you have not heard of them before today.
So you cannot say,
‘Yes, I knew(C) of them.’
8 You have neither heard nor understood;(D)
from of old your ears(E) have not been open.
Well do I know how treacherous(F) you are;
you were called a rebel(G) from birth.
9 For my own name’s sake(H) I delay my wrath;(I)
for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you,
so as not to destroy you completely.(J)
