14 It is true that many were shocked when they saw him. He was beaten so badly that he no longer looked like a man. 15 But it is also true that many nations will be amazed at him. Kings will look at him and be unable to speak. They will see what they had never been told. They will understand what they had never heard.[a]”

14 Just as there were many who were appalled(A) at him[a]—
his appearance was so disfigured(B) beyond that of any human being
and his form marred beyond human likeness(C)—
15 so he will sprinkle(D) many nations,[b]
and kings(E) will shut their mouths(F) because of him.
For what they were not told, they will see,
and what they have not heard, they will understand.(G)
