⁷ therefore the Lord is about to bring against them
    the mighty floodwaters^(A) of the Euphrates—
    the king of Assyria^(B) with all his pomp.^(C)
It will overflow all its channels,
    run over all its banks^(D)

³¹ Wail,^(A) you gate!^(B) Howl, you city!
    Melt away, all you Philistines!^(C)
A cloud of smoke comes from the north,^(D)
    and there is not a straggler in its ranks.^(E)

² Dibon^(A) goes up to its temple,
    to its high places^(B) to weep;
    Moab wails^(C) over Nebo^(D) and Medeba.
Every head is shaved^(E)
    and every beard cut off.^(F)
3 In the streets they wear sackcloth;^(G)
    on the roofs^(H) and in the public squares^(I)
they all wail,^(J)
    prostrate with weeping.^(K)
4 Heshbon^(L) and Elealeh^(M) cry out,
    their voices are heard all the way to Jahaz.^(N)
Therefore the armed men of Moab cry out,
    and their hearts are faint.

⁵ My heart cries out^(O) over Moab;^(P)
    her fugitives^(Q) flee as far as Zoar,^(R)
    as far as Eglath Shelishiyah.
They go up the hill to Luhith,
    weeping as they go;
on the road to Horonaim^(S)
    they lament their destruction.^(T)

¹² The nations will hear of your shame;
    your cries will fill the earth.
One warrior will stumble over another;
    both will fall^(A) down together.”
