²⁷ who says to the depths of the sea, “Be dry,”
and I will dry up your rivers;

² Why was no one there when I came?
Why was there no one to answer when I called?
Is My hand too short to redeem?^(A)
Or do I have no power to deliver?
Look, I dry up the sea by My rebuke;^(B)
I turn the rivers into a wilderness;
their fish rot because of lack of water
and die of thirst.

⁴ He rebukes the sea so that it dries up,
and He makes all the rivers run dry.^(A)
Bashan and Carmel wither;^(B)
even the flower of Lebanon withers.
⁵ The mountains quake before Him,
and the hills melt;
the earth trembles^[a][b] at His presence—
the world and all who live in it.^(C)
6 Who can withstand His indignation?
Who can endure His burning anger?^(D)
His wrath is poured out like fire,
even rocks are shattered before Him.
