⁸ Listen! Your watchmen^(A) lift up their voices;^(B)
    together they shout for joy.^(C)
When the Lord returns^(D) to Zion,^(E)
    they will see it with their own eyes.

⁶ I have posted watchmen^(A) on your walls, Jerusalem;
    they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the Lord,
    give yourselves no rest,^(B)

¹⁷ I appointed watchmen^(A) over you and said,
    ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’^(B)
    But you said, ‘We will not listen.’^(C)

⁶ There will be a day when watchmen^(A) cry out
    on the hills of Ephraim,
‘Come, let us go up to Zion,
    to the Lord our God.’”^(B)
