If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all impartially, and casts no man in the teeth, and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, and waver not. For he who doubts is like the waves of the sea, tossed with the wind and carried about. Neither let that person think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,(A) who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.(B) But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt,(C) because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
