Jeremiah 13:14-16
Lexham English Bible

14 And I will smash them, each one against his brother, and the fathers and the sons together,” declares[a] Yahweh. “I will not have compassion, and I will not take pity, and I will not show compassion from destroying them.”’”

15 Listen, and pay attention,
    you must not be haughty, for Yahweh has spoken.
16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before[b] he brings darkness,
    and before[c] your feet stumble on the mountains at twilight.
And you will hope for light, but he makes it as gloom,
    he makes it[d] as thick darkness.

Threat of Captivity

15 Hear and pay attention,
    do not be arrogant,
    for the Lord has spoken.(D)
16 Give glory(E) to the Lord your God
    before he brings the darkness,
before your feet stumble(F)
    on the darkening hills.
You hope for light,
    but he will turn it to utter darkness
    and change it to deep gloom.(G)
