16 To make their land a (A)desolation,
An object of perpetual (B)hissing;
Everyone who passes by it will be astonished
And (C)shake his head.
17 Like an (D)east wind I will (E)scatter them
Before the enemy;
I will [a]show them (F)My back and not My face
(G)In the day of their disaster.’”
18 Then they said, “Come and let’s (H)devise plans against Jeremiah. Certainly the (I)Law is not going to be lost by the priest, nor (J)advice by the wise, nor the divine (K)word by the prophet! Come, and let’s (L)strike at him with our tongue, and let’s (M)pay no attention to any of his words.”

18 They said, “Come, let’s make plans(G) against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest(H) will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise,(I) nor the word from the prophets.(J) So come, let’s attack him with our tongues(K) and pay no attention to anything he says.”
