Jeremiah 22:16-18
Legacy Standard Bible
16 He pled the cause of the (A)afflicted and needy;
Then it was well.
(B)Is not that what it means to know Me?”
Declares Yahweh.
17 “But your eyes and your heart
Are set on nothing except your own (C)greedy gain
And on (D)shedding innocent blood
And on doing oppression and extortion.”
18 Therefore thus says Yahweh in regard to (E)Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah,
“They will not (F)lament for him:
‘(G)Alas, my brother!’ or, ‘Alas, sister!’
They will not lament for him:
‘Alas for the master!’ or, ‘Alas for his splendor!’
Jeremiah 22:16-18
New International Version
16 He defended the cause of the poor and needy,(A)
and so all went well.
Is that not what it means to know(B) me?”
declares the Lord.
17 “But your eyes and your heart
are set only on dishonest gain,(C)
on shedding innocent blood(D)
and on oppression and extortion.”(E)
18 Therefore this is what the Lord says about Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
“They will not mourn(F) for him:
‘Alas, my brother! Alas, my sister!’
They will not mourn for him:
‘Alas, my master! Alas, his splendor!’
