Jeremiah 23:26-28

International Standard Version

²⁶How long will this go on?^[a] Is there anything^[b] in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy from the deceit that is in their hearts? ²⁷With their dreams that they relate to one another,^[c] they plan to make my people forget my name just as their ancestors forgot my name by embracing^[d] Baal. ²⁸Let the prophet who has a dream relate the dream, but let whoever receives my message^[e] speak my message truthfully. What does straw have in common with wheat?” declares the Lord.

²⁶How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions^(A) of their own minds?^(B) ²⁷They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget^(C) my name, just as their ancestors forgot^(D) my name through Baal worship.^(E) ²⁸Let the prophet who has a dream^(F) recount the dream, but let the one who has my word^(G) speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord.

²⁶How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

²⁷Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

²⁸The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the Lord.
