Jeremiah 3:16-18

16 And when you have multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says the Lord, they shall no more say, “The ark of the covenant of the Lord.” It shall not come to mind, or be remembered, or missed; it shall not be made again.[a] 17 At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart. 18 In those days the house of Judah shall join the house of Israel, and together they shall come from the land of the north to the land that I gave your fathers for a heritage.

- 3.16 The ark must have been destroyed at the same time as the temple in 586 b.c. In the Messianic times the presence of the Lord will not be restricted to the ark of the covenant; cf. Rev 21.22.

16 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark(A) of the covenant of the Lord.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered;(B) it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne(C) of the Lord, and all nations(D) will gather in Jerusalem to honor(E) the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.(F) 18 In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel,(G) and together(H) they will come from a northern(I) land to the land(J) I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.
