Faithless Israel Called to Repentance

⁶ Then Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She ^(G)went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and she was a harlot there. ^7 (H)I said, ‘After she has done all these things, she will return to Me’; but she did not return, and her ^(I)treacherous sister Judah saw it. ⁸ And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and ^(J)given her a certificate of divorce, yet her ^(K)treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also. ⁹ So it was, because of the lightness of her harlotry, that she ^(L)polluted the land and committed adultery with ^(M)stones and trees. ¹⁰ Yet in spite of all this, her treacherous sister Judah did not return to Me with all her heart, but rather in ^(N)lying,” declares Yahweh.

³⁰ Indeed the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have been doing only ^(A)evil in My sight from their youth; for the sons of Israel have been only ^(B)provoking Me to anger by the work of their hands,” declares Yahweh. ³¹ “Indeed this city has been to Me a ^(C)provocation of My anger and My wrath from the day that they built it, even to this day, so that it should be ^(D)removed from before My face ³² because of all the evil of the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah which they have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their ^(E)kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
