Jeremiah 31:2-4
Living Bible

2 I will care for them as I did those who escaped from Egypt, to whom I showed my mercies in the wilderness, when Israel sought for rest. 3 For long ago the Lord had said to Israel: I have loved you, O my people, with an everlasting love; with loving-kindness I have drawn you to me. 4 I will rebuild your nation, O virgin of Israel. You will again be happy and dance merrily with the timbrels.

New International Version

2 This is what the Lord says:

“The people who survive the sword
    will find favor(A) in the wilderness;
    I will come to give rest(B) to Israel.”

3 The Lord appeared to us in the past,[a] saying:

“I have loved(C) you with an everlasting love;
    I have drawn(D) you with unfailing kindness.
4 I will build you up again,
    and you, Virgin(E) Israel, will be rebuilt.(F)
Again you will take up your timbrels(G)
    and go out to dance(H) with the joyful.(I)
