5 You expect to fight the Babylonians,[a] but the men of this city are already as good as dead, for I have determined to destroy them in my terrible anger. I have abandoned them because of all their wickedness.
6 “Nevertheless, the time will come when I will heal Jerusalem’s wounds and give it prosperity and true peace. 7 I will restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel and rebuild their towns.

5 in the fight with the Babylonians[a]: ‘They will be filled with the dead bodies of the people I will slay in my anger and wrath.(A) I will hide my face(B) from this city because of all its wickedness.
6 “‘Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal(C) my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace(D) and security. 7 I will bring Judah(E) and Israel back from captivity[b](F) and will rebuild(G) them as they were before.(H)
