13 Nebuzaradan (the captain of the guard), Nebushazban (the chief official), Nergal (the quartermaster and the chief fortuneteller), and all the other leaders of the king of Babylon sent for Jeremiah. 14 They took Jeremiah out of the courtyard of the prison and handed him over to Gedaliah, son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan, to take him home. So he lived among the people.

15 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the prison, the Lord spoke his word to him. The Lord said,

13 So Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard, Nebushazban a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer a high official and all the other officers(A) of the king of Babylon 14 sent and had Jeremiah taken out of the courtyard of the guard.(B) They turned him over to Gedaliah(C) son of Ahikam,(D) the son of Shaphan,(E) to take him back to his home. So he remained among his own people.(F)

15 While Jeremiah had been confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him:
