4 Now look, I am loosening you this day from the chains which are on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, come and I will look well after you. But if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, never mind. See, all the land is before you. Go wherever it seems good and right for you to go.” 5 Now while he was not yet going back, he said, “Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people. Or go wherever it seems right for you to go.”
So the captain of the guard gave him rations and a gift and let him go. 6 Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah and lived with him among the people who were left in the land.

4 But today I am freeing(A) you from the chains(B) on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.”(C) 5 However, before Jeremiah turned to go,[a] Nebuzaradan added, “Go back to Gedaliah(D) son of Ahikam,(E) the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed(F) over the towns(G) of Judah, and live with him among the people, or go anywhere else you please.”(H)
Then the commander gave him provisions and a present(I) and let him go. 6 So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah(J) and stayed with him among the people who were left behind in the land.
