42 Then all the [a]commanders of the forces, (A)Johanan the son of Kareah, Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people (B)both small and great approached 2 and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please let our (C)petition [b]come before you, and (D)pray for us to the Lord your God, that is for all this remnant; because we are left but a (E)few out of many, as your own eyes now see us, 3 that the Lord your God may tell us the (F)way in which we should walk and the thing that we should do.”

42 Then all the army officers, including Johanan(A) son of Kareah and Jezaniah[a] son of Hoshaiah,(B) and all the people from the least to the greatest(C) approached 2 Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, “Please hear our petition and pray(D) to the Lord your God for this entire remnant.(E) For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few(F) are left. 3 Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.”(G)
