Good News Translation
2 Then Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the other arrogant men said to me, “You are lying. The Lord our God did not send you to tell us not to go and live in Egypt. 3 Baruch son of Neriah has stirred you up against us, so that the Babylonians will gain power over us and can either kill us or take us away to Babylonia.” 4 So neither Johanan nor any of the army officers nor any of the people would obey the Lord's command to remain in the land of Judah.

New International Version
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah(A) and Johanan(B) son of Kareah and all the arrogant(C) men said to Jeremiah, “You are lying!(D) The Lord our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to settle there.’(E) 3 But Baruch(F) son of Neriah is inciting you against us to hand us over to the Babylonians,[a] so they may kill us or carry us into exile to Babylon.”(G)
4 So Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers and all the people(H) disobeyed the Lord’s command(I) to stay in the land of Judah.(J)
