Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers took away everyone who remained in Judah, everyone who had returned to live in the land of Judah from the nations where they had been driven: the men, women, and children, the king’s daughters, and everyone else that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, and also Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch son of Neriah. They entered the land of Egypt, disobeying the voice of the Lord, and they went as far as Tahpanhes.

Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers led away all the remnant of Judah who had come back to live in the land of Judah from all the nations where they had been scattered.(A) They also led away all those whom Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan—the men, the women,(B) the children and the king’s daughters. And they took Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch(C) son of Neriah along with them. So they entered Egypt(D) in disobedience to the Lord and went as far as Tahpanhes.(E)
