New Life Version
3 This is because of the sins they did that made Me angry. They kept burning special perfume and worshiping other gods whom they, you, and your fathers had not known. 4 Yet I sent you all My servants who spoke for Me again and again, saying, “O, do not do this very sinful thing which I hate!” 5 But they did not listen and would not turn from their sinful ways. They would not stop burning special perfume to other gods.

3 because of the evil(A) they have done. They aroused my anger(B) by burning incense(C) to and worshiping other gods(D) that neither they nor you nor your ancestors(E) ever knew. 4 Again and again(F) I sent my servants the prophets,(G) who said, ‘Do not do this detestable(H) thing that I hate!’ 5 But they did not listen or pay attention;(I) they did not turn from their wickedness(J) or stop burning incense(K) to other gods.(L)
